Why is it called cruise/resort wear?

Early spring fashions are coming in new and fresh each week. Our first shipment called "Cruise or Resort" or Pre-Spring has already come in. Now some of you may wonder why designers and people in fashion merchandising call this collection as such.

Here's a simple explanation..
"A cruise collection or resort collection, sometimes also referred to as holiday or travel collection (collection  croisière, in French), is an inter-season or pre-season line of ready-to-wear clothing produced by a fashion house or fashion brand in addition to the recurrent twice-yearly seasonal collections - spring/summer and autumn (or fall)/winter - heralded at the fashion shows in New York, London, Paris and Milan."

This collection was originally meant for wealthy customers and well-traveled individual who sailed the high seas or spent time in Europe vacationing. Now most of theses fashions are nautically inspired, but not meant for just the cruising type. So don't let its name make turn you off, but certainly let these colorful and fresh items make you think of spring and dream of cruising the French Riviera instead.

Feeling owl-like?

Last week we discussed that animal print is not going away and not only is it ever present, it comes in numerous colors, shapes and forms. We failed to mention animal print is in, so are animal shapes, most importantly the owl. In the store now we have some great fur-like vests that will certainly keep you warm and fuzzy in the coming winter months, but we also have owl-inspired items everywhere. Hoot! :)

Runway to Reality...

http://www.style.com/fashionshows/review/F2011RTW-BALENCIA

Ever wonder how the outlandish, artistic and sometimes all out wild fashions go from the runway to our closets? Just like with everything, runway fashions are inspirations and ideas from the designers imagination. Designers come up with incredible ideas, and in my opinion they don't always seem so fashionable when paired together on the runway. I believe the most rewarding part is seeing their initial ideas on the runway (also known as "haute couture") move to more traditional clothing styles, also known as ready to wear (pret a porter/off the rack) or RTW styles. Long gone are the days of sample sizes only and non-existent realistic styles. Ready to wear styles don't come directly from the runway or high fashion couture stores/labels - they slowly or sometimes radically overnight become what we call "runway knock-off's", which quite honestly is something that the majority of us wear. Even large mid-sized retailers re-design haute couture runway styles to fit their own customers needs and wants. This blog rides on the coattails of the close of fashion week! It has been years since my buying days, but those days and moments still keep me teeming with excitement on the items that are coming out, but what excited me most was the items that would trickle down to what the everyday person would wear.

Fashion, whether it's haute couture from the runways in Paris or from your favorite Richardson store, Get Noticed Boutique - it is a personal expression of yourself and your personality. Don't you feel great when you find some wonderful new outfit and even just some great pieces to spruce up that something you already own. You need not go to Paris to express your inner beauty with outer fashion

- Get Noticed Boutique, right in your own backyard, will give you that fashion boost!

Grrrr... Animal Prints are everywhere!

Doesn't it seem like animal print will never go out of style? Well,  certainly not this season - animal prints are everywhere and in every shape and form. Not only are animal prints on every different type of merchandise, they are also available in a myriad of colors. I personally love all the options. Mix new animal prints with old, put them back with jeans or your standard little black dress, dress them down, dress them up or both. Let's face it, animal print is everywhere we look and it definitely is Get-ing Noticed in the fashion realm. Stop by the store and find pieces of animal print to add to your closet.

Fringe, Feathers and Lace

Saturday's Item of the Day!

It's hot outside, but Fall is just around the corner. As we look at items from this past market and current season - I can honestly say that Fall 2011 is all about fringe - fringe on pretty much anything. Fringe on purses, on boots and on jackets. Another wonderful trend for Fall 2011 are something a little more light and fluffy - feathers and lace. Feathers can be on your earrings or permanently attached to your hair as extensions. More and more designers are creating items with lace along the back of shirts - I am so excited for you all to see all the new Fall merchandise that is arriving in the store each day. It's almost like Christmas this time of year with all the goodies coming in. Often times I realize that I should have hung on to those clothes from the past - as the fringe items have slowly snuck back in, lacey clothing has found a new loophole into the fashion world, but this feather craze is far beyond the days of pink straw cowboy hats at the rodeo with feather plumes - this is real. I can't say that I have all the above mentioned items, but they are abundant wherever you look and even at Get Noticed Boutique.

Don't forget Girl's Night Out this coming week on Thursday, September 8th from 5-8pm. All the stores at Campbell Road Village are open late so be sure and come see us.
