Ever wonder how the outlandish, artistic
and sometimes all out wild fashions go from the runway to our closets?
Just like with everything, runway fashions are inspirations and ideas
from the designers imagination. Designers come up with incredible ideas,
and in my opinion they don't always seem so fashionable when paired
together on the runway. I believe the most rewarding part is seeing
their initial ideas on the runway (also known as "haute couture") move
to more traditional clothing styles, also known as ready to wear (pret a
porter/off the rack) or RTW styles. Long gone are the days of sample
sizes only and non-existent realistic styles. Ready to wear styles don't
come directly from the runway or high fashion couture stores/labels -
they slowly or sometimes radically overnight become what we call "runway
knock-off's", which quite honestly is something that the majority of us
wear. Even large mid-sized retailers re-design haute couture runway
styles to fit their own customers needs and wants. This blog rides on
the coattails of the close of fashion week! It has been years since my
buying days, but those days and moments still keep me teeming with
excitement on the items that are coming out, but what excited me most
was the items that would trickle down to what the everyday person would
wear.
